For fans who have followed SUGA for a long time, the name El Captixn or Jang Yi-jeong is certainly familiar. He is one of SUGA’s closest friends — someone who went through some of the most difficult periods of life alongside him, and who shares with him a deep, lifelong pαѕѕion for music.

He co-wrote several of SUGA’s solo tracks, including Daechwita, Snooze, Dear My Friend, and many more. He has also performed Dear My Friend at numerous solo shows as a tribute to their friendship, which has lasted for more than a decade.

Their bond is so strong that Jang once said, “Maybe it was my real dad who raised Jang Yi-jeong, but it was producer SUGA who raised EL CAPITXN.”

Currently, in addition to being an exclusive producer and songwriter under HYBE Labels, El Captixn is also a solo DJ performer. He officially kicked off his first-ever world tour, EL CAPITXN WORLD TOUR 2025–2026 “Who K1lled El?”, on December 6. As part of promotions for the tour, Jang appeared in a YouTube interview uploaded on December 11. Notably, during the interview, he mentioned SUGA and showed off a special gift he recently received from the BTS superstar.

During one segment of the interview, he was seen holding a brand-new bαѕѕ guitar — an instrument he had never used in his previous performances. Naturally, the interviewer asked why he chose a bαѕѕ guitar instead of his usual electric guitar.

El Captixn happily revealed that the Fender Hybrid II Jazz Bαѕѕ, priced at $1,269, was a gift from his closest friend, SUGA. He further explained that when giving him the gift, SUGA said that he wanted the two of them to perform together at future concerts — SUGA on electric guitar and El Captixn on bαѕѕ. Because the gift was both expensive and meaningful, Jang decided to use it during this crucial first stage of his debut world tour.

He said sincerely: “Actually, SUGA wanted me to play the bαѕѕ guitar. At SUGA’s future concerts, he wanted to play the guitar while I played the bαѕѕ. I thought it would be fun, so I said yes. And this — the bαѕѕ guitar — SUGA gave it to me when he told me about the idea. It’s the bαѕѕ guitar he gifted me. So for my first tour, I’ll be performing with this bαѕѕ. Since it’s a bαѕѕ guitar I received from my dearest friend, I want it to be with me during this important beginning. I’m very grateful. It’s an expensive one, though.”

As the interview spread online, fans and netizens couldn’t help but gush over their friendship. Many praised both artists for the strength of their bond and the genuine respect they have for each other. Fans also commended BTS’s SUGA for giving such a meaningful and valuable gift — both materially and emotionally — to El Captixn.

Fans additionally noticed that both SUGA’s guitar and the producer’s bαѕѕ share the same lotus-patterned strap, symbolizing inner strength, peace, and spiritual growth. Moreover, the guitar serves as a gesture of encouragement from SUGA, wishing El Captixn smooth success for his first-ever tour,  making the gift even more special.
