Jimin has officially debuted as a solo artist after more than a decade of working with BTS. With Set Me Free pt.2, Jimin brings his own impressive musical color, defining a new unique art style of Kpop.
This is Jimin's first time as a solo artist in his career so like the other members of the group, ARMYs have been very supportive of his new song. Therefore, since the release of the wonderful song, many people expect that Jimin's MV will create many new records along with breaking social networking platforms.
However, a problem that seems to be quite common when ARMYs often encounter in every BTS comeback happens to Jimin, that is, Jimin's MV has frozen views and ŀöṩẗ a large number of views after 24 hours of release. Fans are currently buzzing about the issue:
Jimin recently released the title track “Set Me Free Pt. 2” from his upcoming solo debut album, FACE, and the song has broken many records. According to the ̾k̾o̾r̾e̾a Herald, Jimin's "Set Me Free Pt.2" topped the iTunes Top Songs chart in 110 countries as of the morning of March 18, including the US, UK, cαnαdα, נαραи, Germany, frαncє, ̾i̾t̾a̾l̾y, Finland.... This is the fastest solo song by a ̾k̾o̾r̾e̾an artist to conquer this milestone in history.
Besides, Jimin's constant name-calling on social media platforms as well as the influence of Jimin's reputation in recent days also proves his successful debut. Set Me Free pt.2 is completely different from Jimin's typical musical style, offering som̾e̾t̾h ̾ing new and experimental yet artistic that has captivated fans since the song's release.
Just like BTS' previous MV releases or other members' solo debuts, YouTube is still the platform where ARMYs gather to create a record for Jimin. ARMYs have set big goals in streaming Set Me Free pt.2's music video on HYBE Labels' official YouTube channel.
After that, the music video quickly rose to number one streaming video on YouTube in the US and a few other countries. However, mixed with ARMY's celebration was outrage and disappointment when it was noticed that the music video's view count was dropping and sometimes freezing.
- In one hour, YouTube deleted views 13 times. In total, 338,732 views were deleted in a span of one hour.
- I was also ѕнσ¢кed, like it is Jimin and the amount of likes is definitely not right.
- Ain't no way. At this rate the total amount of views being deleted is around 10M+ in 36 hours
- Hello @TeamYouTube,IF it validates views, and then adds them later, why do you delete them? You did this many times with “set me free pt.2”MV by BTS JIMIN which was released yesterday & all BTS MV , add the views back to “set me feee pt.2” & don’t freeze views
- YOUTUBE CORRUPT
ARMYs started following the #YouTube and #YouTubeSabotageBTS trends in search of answers from the global video platform giant. In the face of backlash from fans around the world, Youtube was once again forced to give their feedback on this case.
They made the announcement: "It’s not that we freeze the views or they receive a shadowban, the reason why that happens it’s because when they do a release (comeback) or streaming as you mentioned, it gets a lot of users watching it and the platform stops counting the views because they’re too many…"
Another response from YouTube support again mentioned a drop in music video views for “Set Me Free Pt. 2," shared that "temporarily slowing down (or even freezing) a video's view count is inevitable." Meanwhile, ARMYs discovered other K-Pop music videos were being played. Recent users don't seem to have the same problem.
As a result, fans are not happy with Youtube's response as well as expressing their outrage as the platform continues to block the success of BTS products. In the past, in the releases of Butter, On, Idol,...ARMY and BTS, they also encountered this situation and could not bring higher records for great music products:
- YouTube thinks that the multiple views is spam. It’s been happening for years.
- whatt like they been doing this like every mv that bts have like why jealous bic
- Been on premium to support the boys and stream properly then they keep on ḟŕệäḳing doing this
- This is absolutely disgusting. @YouTube. Can you keep it real because deleting the views like this is just so unfair.
- Yt saying they don't count view cause of heavy traffic but when other groups use streaming farms they suddenly know how to count. YOUTUBE CORRUPT. This is a nonsensical answer admitting shortcomings of your OWN platform that is sabotaging artists like BTS from getting what deserve
- We need a proper answer
- This is completely ridiculous and needs to be stopped..did they really think we would believe this?
- ok guys, let's trend even more #YouTubeCorrupt and #YouTubeSabotageBTS since they don't wanna give us a proper answer, they only have this treatment when it comes to the boys. BUT don't forget to stream, we have a goal to reach. let's do both, ok?
- still no proper response. no action. nothing. youtube lacks the transparency artists and fans deserve.
- This is a nonsensical answer, admitting shortcomings of your OWN platform that is sabotaging artists like BTS from getting what they’ve rightfully earned
Meanwhile, ARMY continues to work hard on music video streaming and seek answers and improvements from YouTube. Despite the setbacks, Jimin's music video continues to trend, showing his strength and the power of ARMYs around the world.
