ARMYs Defend SUGA As Audiences Require KBS To Ban Him From Broadcasting After Discharge

SUGA's comeback on the 21st of this month marks an important milestone as all 7 BTS members have completed their military service, paving the way for the group to reunite and be active in the near future.

While domestic and international media as well as fans are eagerly awaiting the reunion of Kpop superstar BTS, SUGA and his DUI case have been brought again to the public. A petition to ban the broadcast has even been sent to KBS, dealing a significant blow to the group's hopes of a full return to television.

Specifically, after SUGA was recently discharged from the military, the Petitioner, in the name of KBS's au∂ιєnce, posted a request for the station to organize a committee to consider the possibility of restricting the appearance of SUGA - who was fined 15 million KRW (about 11,000 USD) for driving an electric vehicle with an alcohol concentration at the level of license revocation (0.08% or more) last year.

According to the petition, viewers believe that allowing SUGA to continue to appear in public could cause society to downplay the seriousness of this behavior: "Drunk driving is a serious crime that can cause direct harm to others. He is a public figure who has a significant influence on young people, and there is concern that appearing on TV with such influence could lower social awareness of drunk driving crimes."

In кσяєα, artists who have been involved in scandals often receive severe punishments directly, such as being banned from appearing on public television. KBS has harshly suspended artists such as Kwak Do Won, Kim Sae Ron, and Kim Ho Joong for being involved in drunk driving controversies for a certain period of time.

However, "KBS did not hold a review committee because the investigation results were not released after the incident. He was discharged from the military on June 21, 2025, and the fine was confirmed on September 27, 2024. Please hold a review committee ASAP to secure your viewers’ trust and fulfill your responsibility as a public broadcast company", the petioner mentioned.

They continued emphasizing that: "Ignoring SUGA's case could set a dangerous precedent and undermine KBS's reputation as a public broadcasting agency."

Faced with public pressure aimed at SUGA and the past incident, the fan community has stood up to protect their idol. They believe that the BTS rapper's case is different from the cases of artists who have been banned from KBS in that he did not cause any other damage to people or property.

On the other hand, in SUGA's case, he used an electric scooter, not a car. ARMYs also accused viewers of targeting him negatively and not looking at the incident objectively compared to past cases.

Fans have expressed their opinions on various platforms to protect SUGA and the full return of the 7 BTS members:

- it's almost an year, it's time for y'all to move on from a dui case over merely driving a 20kmph electric scooter and falling at his residence entrance. he owned his fault and did whatever he could to rectify his mistake, when most people would excuse over such a little case.

- I still can't believe this is considered DUI. Also considering that the (current or past) president of SK has a DUI, also with the star of Squid Games. So they get a pαѕѕ and not Suga, who owned up and paid the fine? Get a life.

- Y'all are so barking up the wrong tree. Suga is going nowhere sweetheart.

- it wasn't BTS loss.. BTS didn't need those channels when they can produce their own variety show now that they're complete again..

- No Suga, no BTS. BTS is 7

- People like to hold grudges. he paid a fine, a hefty one i might say, and he had time to reflect on his mistake. i'm pretty sure he won't do it again. time to move on people... it's okay to hold idols accountable but no need to be toxic about it

- If Suga had been in a car, on the road, roaring drunk, had hurt himself or others, damaged property, I could just about understand it. But this constant hate towards someone who fell off a mini scooter on a sidewalk is beyond all sense...

- KBS will never do that cause then no other member will ever appear on their channel, it will be a huge loss for them

- I’m not even an ARMY, but I will fιgнт for Suga. Enough! This has moved into absurdity…

- What's it all about? Jealousy? Antis, solos? What? Who's petitioning, how many, age range? It's like you're all just waiting for the day he's forced to put an end to it - and you know what I mean!! You're such despicable, hate-filled people. It's sickening!

- This people so annoying its been a year and nothing happens he didn’t even bother anyone else why this issue is so much rudeness yeah live him alone he just get out from military government service why the dumb sнιт whats with u people let this man live a life

- People need move on and leave him alone. It’s been almost a year. BTS isn’t coming back without Suga. Get tf over it.

- These people are so bored with their lives and can’t live a peaceful life. So shallow and making things complicated. Suga is driving a scooter in the pavement not in the main road OMG! Are u not tired of this so go ahead and make ur life more miserable. Army won’t let u dwn!
