When it comes to Jungkook’s vocals, I firmly believe that not only fans but also industry experts have consistently showered him with praise. He has almost never let his fans down — whether singing live for hours on end, performing intense choreography, or even when he’s not in perfect health.
“I said to him, ‘…you’re the only person who could really pull it off.’ … It was a miraculously perfect vocal. I was very impressed…” — this was how Charlie Puth once described BTS’s golden maknae’s voice. Meanwhile, кσяєαn music critic Kim Young-dae concluded, “Jungkook has perfect pitch…” and Grammy voting member Lim Hyung-joo also once remarked, “Vocal technique, perfect pitch, and pure voice.”
Yet it seems that negative viewers never focus on these positive aspects, instead seizing every small slip to nitpick and criticize him. Recently, a post filled with brutal criticisms of Jungkook’s singing went viral on a кσяєαn online community and later spread to international platforms.
The original post first appeared on Nate Pann, claiming that: "Jungkook called ‘Golden.’ He sang so seriously bad that both кσяєαn and international fans are in chaos, but only his fans are pretending not to see and shielding him. Total live disaster from ‘Golden’ LOL Is he really the main vocalist..? The video is too funny, howww."
In the post, the author quoted what were said to be negative reactions from international netizens and кσяєαn fans on theqoo, criticizing Jungkook’s singing of a line from Golden during the KPop Demon Hunters special livestream held for his birthday on September 1.
However, just a few hours after it was uploaded, the post faced fierce backlash from the majority of fans. Some ARMYs pointed out that the shared clip was from the very end of the livestream — by which time Jungkook had already performed all 10 tracks from his solo album in full.
Not only that, but Jungkook wasn’t even singing seriously when he tried out the line from Golden; he was intentionally mimicking Rumi’s voice crack from the movie. Many fans found it laughable — even absurd — that anyone would criticize Jungkook’s vocals when he was clearly just joking around.
A flood of supportive comments quickly appeared under the controversial topic:
- It’s not like he usually gets called tone-deaf. Even while dancing, he’s sung encores with just a handheld mic and did it so well that the encore video нιт #1 on YouTube trending worldwide with 13 million views. So those old antis from that gallery trying to drag him for his singing is just funny in comparison, isn’t it?
- They dragged a casual moment where he was jokingly singing and tried to make it into a whole narrative that he can’t sing, just to create bad buzz and push it onto trending. He didn’t even do an official cover, it was in a female key, he didn’t even know the lyrics properly, and he just sang it playfully while laughing. Imagine how bitter you must be about your own fave’s vocals to post soмєтнing like this? Meanwhile, this is a singer who was invited to perform at the World Cup opening ceremony.
- The day before, he was ѕнσ¢кed by that crazy stalker house invasion, then still came to do a birthday livestream, saying he hadn’t slept and felt low energy, but he sang all 10 tracks from his album until 2 a.m. At the end, he said. ‘Since I sang Golden album songs today, should I try ‘Golden’ too?’ and jokingly sang the first verse. That ‘ah sнιт’ part was just because his lip piercing got caught. He’s done that before too. Anyway, it’s gross how those antis obsessively watch his entire live from start to finish, way more invested in him than their own fave.
- Last time on live, he casually sang Soda Pop without even getting serious, and Andrew Choi, the voice of Jinu, praised him like crazy, saying Jungkook’s tone is good and he sang really well. The video blew up on YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok, and everyone was praising him. Antis were already super jealous then, and now they’re once again showing how burned they were LOL.
- He sang really well considering the fact that he didn’t really practice to sing golden(which is very hard to sing) and he didn’t even know the lyrics
- The point is that to sing golden well u need to practice a lot and jungkook still decided to do it without practicing bc he’s not a coward
- Other idols before singing high notes they practice and warm up on them while Jungkook here sang with all his sкιℓℓ on the A5 instrument in Golden's music and gave everything he had, his strings prove this situation with a wonderful balance between TA and CT and the voice enters into his conviction with great sкιℓℓ in terms of technique
