For K-pop fans in general — and ARMYs in particular — major “update accounts” or “fanbase accounts” are undoubtedly the number one go-to sources on social media. These accounts specialize in lightning-fast updates about idols — including schedules, new photos, events, SNS posts, concerts, advertisements, and more — often compiling and translating information from various sources.

One of the most well-known and reliable fan accounts that every longtime BTS fan would recognize is @taetaeboo on Instagram.

Active in the fandom community since 2018, the account has amαѕѕed over 1.1 million followers. She’s known for her consistency and speed — providing near real-time, highly accurate updates on BTS’s activities. Thanks to her, ARMYs rarely miss any major news about the members.

Having accompanied ARMY for years, @taetaeboo became an essential part of the fandom’s front line. However, by the end of October, her account suddenly disappeared from Instagram, showing a “User not found” message — leaving fans confused and concerned.

A few days later, the owner took to X (formerly Twitter) to explain that her account might be permanently gone. She revealed that one of her videos containing English translations had been flagged for copyright issues — soмєтнing she hadn’t realized until Instagram deleted her account and sent her a notice.

Over the following week, @taetaeboo filed multiple appeals to Instagram in hopes of restoring her page, though it seemed unlikely to succeed. Fans of the major update account launched a campaign within the fandom — submitting petitions urging Instagram to reinstate her account on her behalf.

Despite their efforts, she were unable to recover the account with over a million followers. Eventually, encouraged by the overwhelming love and support from ARMY, taetaeboo decided to create a new Instagram account under the handle @tae.tae.boo to continue sharing BTS updates.

Surprisingly, less than a day after she announced her new account, it was disabled once again by Instagram, citing community guideline violations. According to her, the account was once more flagged for copyright infringement by a third party. This immediately sparked suspicion among fans that the situation was not just a coincidence — but rather a targeted attack against frontline ARMYs.

Another major BTS update account, having faced a similar issue in the past, offered a word of caution, saying that: "We have suggestion since one of the admin  faced the suspension too.. whenever you post please add some instagram audio (you can reduce the volume of that audio) and add your watermark in videos. This way Instagram won't raise a copyright strike".

Some fans believe that regardless of caution or preventive measures, BTS update accounts are being deliberately targeted by disruptive individuals. By attacking major fan pages on social media, these people aim to weaken the online influence of one of the world’s biggest fandoms and K-pop’s top stars. Fans have also warned other update accounts to stay alert, as such incidents seem to be happening with alarming frequency.

Meanwhile, ARMYs have expressed outrage at these toxic acts and sent messages of comfort and encouragement to taetaeboo:
