The recent controversy between Jin’s and Xiao Zhan’s fan communities has been drawing significant attention on social media. The issue is believed to have started with some Jin fans’ dissatisfaction with how Gucci treats and promotes its two brand ambαѕѕadors. Both Jin and Xiao Zhan currently serve as Gucci ambαѕѕadors, but some of Jin’s fans believe that the Chinese actor has received more preferential treatment from the brand in terms of media exposure and benefits.

The conflict then quickly went beyond debates over exposure or promotional activities. An account believed to be a Jin fan was accused of publicly posting Xiao Zhan’s personal information, including the actor’s national ID number, on social media. The act immediately sparked outrage, as disclosing personal identification information can constitute a violation of Chinese law.

According to information being shared online, when asked to delete the content, the account not only refused to apologize but also continued posting provocative content. Later, a major Jin fansite in ¢нιиα posted a statement supporting the authorities in handling the matter and emphasized that the actions of an individual should not be attributed to Jin or his entire fan community. However, the statement only fueled the conflict further because it did not include a direct apology to Xiao Zhan for the harm he had suffered.

Although Jin himself is completely uninvolved in the incident, and it has not even been determined whether the person responsible was actually his fan or an anti posing as one, he is the one who has ended up directly bearing the consequences. His latest promotional posts have become a place for some of Xiao Zhan’s fans to vent their anger in return.

Specifically, in the latest promotional posts for Gucci’s PRIMAVERA campaign featuring Jin as a global ambαѕѕador, the comment sections were filled with negative remarks allegedly coming from some of the Chinese actor’s fans. He was mocked for his appearance and age and compared to Xiao Zhan in an attempt to put the K-pop idol down. Jin’s posts on Gucci’s website also received numerous malicious comments written in Chinese.

Some comments were even harsh enough to say things like, “Never seen a more boring kpop idol than him", "Is “worldwide handsome” in the room with us?", "Y'all call this man handsome?", “Guess кσяєαn genes weren’t enough to save him he’s aging like spoiled milk”, “Holy chopped!!!”, "The way it's not edited but real picture is кιℓℓing me he's so ugly",...

Amid the wave of attacks, ARMY also quickly stepped up to defend their idol. Some fans argued that the initial doxxing incident may not necessarily have been carried out by an actual Jin fan, but could have been a fake account created to provoke conflict and drag Jin and ARMY into a fandom war. At the same time, some Jin fan communities on Weibo proactively issued apologies for the wrongdoing if it was indeed committed by members of their fandom. Many also called for an end to attacks against idols and actors, arguing that they should not become targets simply because of disputes between their fans:
