Over the years, BTS has constantly received glowing praise for their manners and attitude from colleagues and ARMYs alike. While these compliments are undoubtedly sincere, they can sometimes carry a hint of bias. That is why stories shared by non-fans are so valuable—they offer a completely unbiased and refreshing perspective on who the members truly are.
There have been ordinary people—from delivery drivers and hotel staff to taxi drivers and flight attendants—who happened to cross paths with the K-pop superstars by pure coincidence. Free from the spotlight and away from the cameras, these fleeting, everyday interactions speak volumes, stripping away the idol persona to reveal the members’ true, unfiltered character.
Among them is a part-time delivery worker originally from Kerala, India, who was working in South Korea. Thanks to the nature of his job, he ended up with a once-in-a-lifetime memory after an unexpected interaction with BTS—specifically, with SUGA!
SUGA is often nicknamed a Tsundere because he doesn’t usually express his emotions or affections directly and is very sparing with words. However, he has a “warm heart” inside, always caring for and helping others wholeheartedly. The story from the delivery worker once again gives fans a glimpse into this very quality of his.
Through Club FM, a radio station based in Kerala, ιи∂ια, the delivery worker had the chance to appear and talk about his experience working with the BTS members. He stated clearly that he was not a fan of BTS, but since the group is very famous, he knew of them.
As part of his delivery job, he received orders on a food delivery app, and upon arrival, he ever met 4 out of the 7 BTS members. “If you ask me whether I am a BTS fan or an ARMY? I am not. So I’ve met 4 of them and that too as a part of my job. The people I’ve met are Jungkook, RM, Jin, and SUGA,” he said. He continued: "If you ask me about the experience…All four of them are superb. They never made us feel like they have any kind of attitude about having millions of fans".
But the highlight of this lucky encounter had to be the message SUGA sent him through the food delivery app. He shared that usually customers who text through the app only ask about delivery time or urge the driver to hurry, but SUGA sent a completely different message, which truly surprised him.
Specifically, he recalled: "I particularly want to mention one case. "I would especially like to mention one instance. Once, SUGA… It was a rainy day. Actually, there is no option for the customers to contact us, but there is a feature called “Rider Request”. And in that request section, he wrote, “It’s a rainy day… It doesn’t matter however late you are, drive carefully.” Isn’t that a super quality to have?"
Though just a small action, it truly touched the delivery worker’s heart, making it unforgettable for him. As a customer, SUGA did not need to do that — moreover, he is a superstar admired by millions. Yet he still showed his golden character!
After hearing the delivery worker’s story, fans also realized the reason why SUGA sent such a message, which was partly related to his old part-time job. Before debuting, SUGA once worked as a food delivery worker to earn extra money to support his living expenses. During that time, he unfortunately had a car α¢¢ι∂єит while making a delivery, which caused a serious shoulder injury. Although the initial wound healed, he still suffered long-term consequences from the α¢¢ι∂єит and had to undergo shoulder surgery a few years ago to relieve the pain.
From his own personal experience, it seems that SUGA was worried that if the delivery worker drove too fast in the rain, he might encounter the same unfortunate situation that he himself once faced. He sent the message hoping to ease the driver’s pressure and remind him to drive safely.
His difficult past has helped him become deeply understanding and empathetic toward ordinary workers. From a young man who once struggled to get by with delivery jobs, SUGA has now become a global superstar, but what’s important is that he has remained consistently kind and down-to-earth.
This small yet heartfelt action made fans admire SUGA’s character even more, adding to the reasons why BTS continues to have such a powerful impact on the public!
