Go Youn Jung is widely regarded as one of the most prominent young actresses in кσяєαn television today, earning praise for her captivating visuals and increasingly mature acting sкιℓℓs. She first gained widespread attention through her roles in нιт series such as Sweet Home (2020), Law School (2021), Alchemy of Souls: Light and Shadow (2022–2023), Moving (2023), and Resident Playbook (2025), among others.
Most recently, the actress has once again generated major buzz with her leading role as Cha Muhee in the Netflix original series "Can This Love Be Translated?" The drama follows the journey of Joo Hojin (played by Kim Seon Ho), a multilingual interpreter, and Cha Muhee, a global superstar, as they attempt to interpret each other’s language, navigate misunderstandings, and ultimately arrive at mutual understanding.

According to FlixPatrol data, "Can This Love Be Translated?" debuted at No. 5 globally in Netflix’s TV series rankings before climbing to the Top 3 worldwide just days after its release. Within only three days of its premiere, the series reached No. 1 on Netflix in 13 countries, demonstrating its immediate and widespread appeal across multiple markets. It also entered the Top 10 in major territories such as the United States and ranked No. 7 in ¢αиα∂α.
As the series continues to receive strong global support, Yonhap News conducted an interview with the lead actress to explore the behind-the-scenes stories behind the drama’s standout moments. Interestingly, Cha Muhee—portrayed by Go Youn Jung—is herself an actress, mirroring Go’s real-life profession. As a result, she initially thought the role would be easy to step into, but reality proved otherwise. “Playing an actress as an actress was interesting, but it wasn’t easy,” she said.
The key difference lies in the fact that Cha Muhee is written as a “typical idol-style actress,” a persona that differs significantly from Go Youn Jung’s usual demeanor. Surprisingly, to better embody the role, she revealed that she drew inspiration from BTS. “My natural walk is quite strong, and my mannerisms don’t really match the stereotypical image of an actress. I referenced top stars like BTS—how they sign autographs at airports or greet fans on the red carpet.”

Her revelation delighted and surprised fans alike. While au∂ιєnces understand that actors often study role models for character preparation, many were amused to learn that Go Youn Jung also favors BTS and uses the group as inspiration for her performance. She has also received widespread praise for her nuanced portrayal of the extreme anxiety hidden beneath the glamorous life of a global star—helping viewers better understand the pressures faced by celebrities in general, and by BTS in particular.
Beyond her comments about learning from BTS, the interview also sparked laughter among fans when Go Youn Jung addressed some of her other iconic scenes, including her intense sw3aring moments in the early episodes. The actress burst out laughing and said those scenes were not difficult at all: “As I immersed myself emotionally in Muhee’s situation, the profanity came out very naturally. I stu∂ιєd a lot by watching videos of senior actor Hwang Jung-min, who’s known for delivering sw3ar lines with great impact.”
Meanwhile, Go Youn Jung expressed excitement about playing dual roles—Cha Muhee and Dorami—in the series, as it allowed her to experiment with different acting styles. She shared, “At first, it felt like a very realistic romance—not what you’d expect from the Hong Sisters. Then it gradually turned into fantasy, which made it more interesting. The blend of realism and unreality felt like a fairy tale.”

She also spoke about her co-star Kim Seon Ho, noting that she never felt the age gap between them and expressing deep respect for him as a senior in the industry: “At first, he felt like a very senior figure because of his long career and theater background, but once on set, the age gap didn’t really stand out. Watching how he used props and came up with ad-lib ideas made me admire him. It also made me hope that in 10 years, I could become an actor like Kim Seon Ho.”

Lastly, Go Youn Jung revealed that she is currently filming her next project, Everyone Is Fighting Their Own Worthlessness, written by screenwriter Park Hae-young (My Mister). She also expressed her gratitude for continuously receiving offers from renowned writers and shared her anticipation for the upcoming work.
