Among the older celebrities known to be friends with Jin, comedian Park Myung Soo is one of the most familiar names among ARMYs. The veteran figure in the кσяєαn entertainment industry has long been recognized through numerous variety shows, radio programs, and talk shows.
Previously, while promoting his single The Astronaut, Jin appeared on Park’s YouTube show Halmyungsoo. Despite their 17-year age gap, the two displayed a charming and humorous friendship with no sense of a generational barrier.

During Jin’s military service, Park Myung Soo often proudly mentioned him and BTS when talking with other idol guests. Behind-the-scenes stories about their friendship were also shared, making fans laugh at the genuine bond between them. For this reason, most people αѕѕumed the two kept in touch frequently like close friends. However, the reality appears to be quite different!
In another episode of Halmyungsoo, the comedian υиєχρє¢тє∂ly revealed that after discovering “soмєтнing ѕнσ¢кing” on Jin’s phone screen, he began to feel that texting Jin had become “difficult.”
Specifically, in that episode, Park Myung Soo and Hwang Kwanghee were preparing traditional pancakes for the Chuseok holiday. During filming, the production team pointed out soмєтнing the two had in common: both are huge fans of G-Dragon. This led Kwanghee to complain that it is difficult to stay in contact with the star because he must receive countless messages.
Right after, Park Myung Soo surprised everyone by bringing up a similar experience with Jin: “After seeing Jin’s phone, I just stopped texting him. He gets about a thousand messages a day.”

His confession left Kwanghee ѕнσ¢кed, asking in disbelief: "Why? He gets tons? A day?(no way!)". Park then went on to reveal that it wasn’t just the sheer number of messages—among Jin’s contacts were world-renowned artists like Ed Sheeran and Coldplay. "It's for real. He talks with Ed Sheeran & Coldplay and exchanges texts with them (caption: The unrivaled network of a world-clαѕѕ star)”
Feeling sympathetic toward Park’s frustration, Kwanghee tried to console him with some lighthearted words: "Hyung, you have a lot of friends" to which Park responded with: "No, he is not my friend. He is (caption: my younger brother) Jinnie Jinnie Jinnie~", trying to salvage a bit of their playful friendship.
As soon as the episode aired, Jin’s “unparalleled global network” left fans astonished, reinforcing his status as a true global superstar. Many also began speculating that he might be planning a new project with some of his famous musician friends.
On the other hand, Park Myung Soo’s reaction also reminded fans of a past incident involving him and BTS, back when the group had just debuted and were far from the megastars they are today. About eight years ago, the members happened to run into Park Myung Soo near a restroom at Gimpo International Airport. Although Jin and BTS greeted him politely, Park ignored them and even told them to “just go” instead of agreeing to take a photo together.
Fans now jokingly see Park’s reluctance to text Jin as a form of “karma” for his coldness in the past. Park himself later admitted that he regretted not treating BTS better back when they weren’t yet famous. Fans quickly shared their reactions on social media as the video rapidly went viral:
- Imagine Jin as Harry Potter and Ed Sheeran as Ron
- Is he allowed to share such information? Star-nim? this is a breach of privacy.
- He's always mentioning Jin. Soмєтнing about him gives me clout chaser vibes. His other friends and acquaintances dont feel the need to share so much info
- Coldplay hyung can be understood but Ed Sheeran? Whatever it is I am readdyyyy
- jin texting with ed sheeran and chris?? he's always everyone favorite
- This man better not be fibbing coz I saved all my college money to see Ed Sheeran, my first concert ever and now, Jin and Ed what??
- Jin exchange texts with Ed Sheeran? For music, I know soмєтнing is coming
- This reminds me of how he once embarrαѕѕed BTS by ignoring them. Karma often comes quickly
- It’s no surprise that Jin gets attention from dozens of other celebrities. BTS are now at a level everyone admires — they’re true global superstars
- It’s only natural that he feels hesitant to text Jin, considering what he once did to them. But that would be the same for anyone — BTS are truly amazing, they make those who once looked down on them pay a heavy price
